Stewardship Testimony: Eloise McCormick
Special appreciation to Eloise McCormick and her grandson Tristan for sharing their stewardship story and reminding us how turning to God and accepting his blessings in challenging circumstances can strengthen faith and help us recognize how His manifold grace flows through the loving hearts of our congregation, joyous givers, and grateful recipients.
“I am standing here by the Grace of God, only by the Grace of God. I thank each and everyone of you that are sitting out there. This is my grandson. The story is all about him and how you reach out and touch our lives. I stand before you with a blessing, grateful heart because God is still blessing me and Tristan.” - Elouise McCormick
When Tristan was very young, Elouise helped his mother care for him. After his mother passed away, Elouise became his primary caregiver and raised him. At the time, she was working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, but she lost her job. With little or no income, she struggled to provide food for her grandson. She applied for public assistance but was denied.
“Prayer is the key and faith unlocks the door.” - Elouise McCormick
Elouise turned to God and went to church to pray. That day, she met Karen Cullen, a founder of the TCPC Food Pantry, and another person familiar with the pantry. Their seemingly providential encounter led to an invitation for Elouise to visit the TCPC Food Pantry.
“Then once she introduced me to it, and I came, I said, ' Whoa, this is what I need for both of us. We need this.’ And I thank God for it because it’s helped us. See how handsome and how tall he is. It came from the Food Pantry. That’s what is keeping him going.”
“I am standing here before you just to let you know I am grateful for the Food Pantry.”
“When God blesses you, He blesses you to be a blessing. And you bless me. And I am sure you bless others because I see when I come here sometimes that line is full up. So, keep on praying, keep on having faith; your pantry will never be empty, because God is making a way for you.” - Elouise McCormick
