2027 Stewardship Campaign: Called by Name. United in Purpose.
Over the past several weeks, we have journeyed with God's people through the story of Exodus—standing on holy ground, listening for God's call, learning to trust the next step, and watching for the ways God opens a path before us.
Beginning Sunday, October 4, that journey will lead us into our 2027 Stewardship Campaign:
Called by Name. United in Purpose.
Throughout these six weeks, we will consider not simply what we give, but who God has called us to be together.
Each of us has been given gifts. Each of us has a place in the Body of Christ. And together, our time, talents, generosity, service, and faith become part of God's work through Three Chopt Presbyterian Church.
We have been asking:
Where is God leading us?
Now we begin to ask:
How will we respond together?
Join us beginning October 4 as we listen, discern, give thanks, and consider our faithful response to God's call.
Christmas Mother 2026
Kathi Carignan named 2026 Henrico Christmas Mother
“I believe the true spirit of the season comes alive through our community’s generosity, empowering Henrico Christmas Mother to bring hope, dignity, and joy to those who need it most in our community.” - Kathi Carignan
The Henrico Christmas Mother Council is pleased to announce the selection of Kathi Carignan as the 2026 Henrico Christmas Mother. Kathi joined the Council in 2022 and is a member of the Food Committee and the Fundraising and Communications Committee. She is honored to represent the organization, which has a rich history of helping neighbors in need during the holiday season. Kathi believes that “the true spirit of the season comes alive through our community’s generosity, empowering Henrico Christmas Mother to bring hope, dignity, and joy to those who need it most in our community.”
Kathi Carignan is a lifelong Virginian, moving from Tidewater to Henrico County more than 40 years ago. She is a graduate of The College of William & Mary (BA, Economics) and of VCU (MS, Info Systems). Kathi worked in banking for more than 35 years, beginning her career as a Business Analyst at United Virginia Bank and retiring from its successor, SunTrust Bank (now Truist), as Group Vice President of the Commercial Business Information Office. In addition to her Henrico Christmas Mother activities, Kathi is a member and Board member of The Tuckahoe Woman’s Club, a member of the Metropolitan Richmond Woman’s Club, and a member of Christ Church Episcopal, Glen Allen, where she co-chairs the Hospitality Committee. She also volunteers weekly at the food pantry at Three Chopt Presbyterian Church.
Henrico Christmas Mother is a volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is to provide food, new clothing, books, toys, and other gift items to qualifying Henrico County families with children, seniors, and adults with disabilities – a tradition that began in 1942. Food relief constitutes 40% of our program cost. In 2025, we served 4,696 individuals, including 2,493 children and 885 seniors and adults with disabilities. We achieve our mission through strong support from the community: financial gifts, donations, and over 700 volunteers annually. To learn more about the program, including how to apply for assistance, volunteer, or donate to help our neighbors in need, please visit https://henricochristmasmother.org or call us at (804) 236-9741.
A Faith We Carry Forward
“Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses…”
On All Saints' Day, we remember.
We remember those who worshiped before us. Those who prayed and taught. Those who served and gave. Those who welcomed strangers, cared for children, sang the hymns, prepared the meals, tended the buildings, supported ministries, and dreamed about what this church might become.
Much of what we have today exists because someone before us believed it was worth passing on.
We inherited more than a building or a congregation.
We inherited a faith.
And now that faith has been entrusted to us.
Stewardship connects generations. What we offer today becomes part of what another generation will receive tomorrow.
As we remember the saints who have gone before us, we also look toward those who will come after us.
What have we received from those who came before us—and what will we faithfully pass on?
Revelation Presentation
Join us on Wednesday, November 11 at 6:30pm in the upper fellowship hall for a presentation and discussion on the book of Revelation featuring Union Presbyterian Seminary professor Christian Sanchez.
Dr. Sanchez, a New Testament scholar, will guide us through exploring how Roman Imperialism shaped the experience of first-century Christians and how this can help us to better understand this important and complex book today. Light refreshments will be provided.
Christian Sánchez was called to Union Presbyterian Seminary in 2024. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Theology from Southwestern Assemblies of God University (2017), a Master of Philosophy in Analytic and Exegetical Theology from the University of St. Andrews (2021), and a Doctor of Philosophy in New Testament from Baylor University (2024).
Chopt And Chat
Looking for a relaxed space to connect with other women in the church, share a great meal, and encourage one another in faith? You’re invited to the kickoff of Chopt and Chat!
The concept is simple: The host provides the salad greens and dressing, and everyone brings one or two of their favorite toppings to chop, toss, and share. We’ll build an amazing salad bar together, catch up on life over dinner, and dive into a light, uplifting devotional.
Whether you've been at Three Chopt PC for decades or days, there is a seat at the table for you. Bring a friend and a topping!

Generosity Reflects God's Heart
“Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.” — 1 Peter 4:10
Stewardship begins with a simple recognition:
We have received grace.
Notice what he doesn't say.
He doesn't speak of guilt. He doesn't speak of pressure. He speaks of joy, gratitude, abundance, and grace.
Christian generosity grows from the recognition that we have already received much from God.
Our financial giving is one way we participate in God's work through the church. Together, our gifts make worship, mission, pastoral care, Christian formation, music, fellowship, outreach, and the daily ministry of Three Chopt possible.
But generosity is about more than meeting expenses.
It is one way gratitude becomes visible.
It is one way we say, “Thank you, God, for what you have entrusted to us.”
As you begin considering your financial commitment for 2027, we invite you to pray about this question:
How can my generosity become an expression of gratitude rather than obligation?

Stewards of Grace
“Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.” — 1 Peter 4:10
Stewardship begins with a simple recognition:
We have received grace.
Grace expressed through our abilities, our experiences, our time, our compassion, our resources, and our relationships. Even the lessons we have learned through life's joys and struggles can become gifts offered in service to others.
Peter calls all of this the “manifold grace of God.”
Grace comes in many forms because God's people come with many different gifts.
Stewardship, then, is much larger than what we put in an offering plate. It is the faithful use of whatever God has entrusted to us.
So perhaps the question isn't simply, What do I have to give?
Perhaps it is:
What has God already placed in my hands that can be used for the good of others?

Rise Against Hunger Meal Packaging Event
Rise Against Hunger works alongside communities worldwide to build food security and long-term resilience.
Our approach is grounded in three interconnected focus areas: nutrition, education and economic empowerment.
Photos from the event, courtesy of Cheryl Kirk
When people experience hunger, it’s more difficult to learn, work, and plan for the future. Through nutritious meals and support for local food systems, we help families and communities meet their most immediate needs while laying the foundation for long-term food security. Much of this work is made possible by volunteers like you! When you participate in a Rise Against Hunger meal packaging event, you package nutritious meals that are distributed in food-insecure regions around the world.
Come join us on October 11th at 3:30 PM in the Upper Fellowship Hall to pack 11,000 meals to help those in need.

Every Part Matters
Paul gives us one of Scripture's most beautiful pictures of the church:
We are the Body of Christ.
A body has many parts, and every part has a purpose. No one can say, “I don't matter.” And no one can say to another, “We don't need you.”
Before stewardship asks us what we will give, it reminds us of something even more fundamental:
We belong.
The church isn't something we simply support from the outside. Together, we are the church.
Every prayer offered.
Every child taught.
Every meal served.
Every song sung.
Every visitor welcomed.
Every hour volunteered.
Every gift shared.
They become part of something larger than any one of us could accomplish alone.
There is a place for you here.
And there is a gift that only you can bring.
What unique gift has God entrusted to you for the good of the whole church?
Called by Name. United in Purpose.
How Will We Respond Together?
God called Moses by name from the burning bush.
Moses answered, “Here I am.”
Throughout our journey through Exodus, we have considered what it means to recognize holy ground, listen for God's voice, trust the next step, and follow when God opens a way.
But God's call is never only about where we are going.
Eventually, we must decide how we will respond.
Paul reminds us that there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; varieties of service, but the same Lord. Each of us has been given something to contribute, and those gifts are given “for the common good.”
That is where stewardship begins.
Not with a budget.
Not with a pledge card.
But with recognizing that our lives, abilities, resources, experiences, and opportunities are gifts from God—and asking how God might use them.
God has called us.
How will we respond together?
World Communion Sunday
“What does the Lord require of you … to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God …” Micah 6:8
Loving kindness is one of the most beautiful threads woven throughout the Old Testament. Again and again, we are reminded that the people we meet are not strangers or enemies, but beloved children of God. The prophet calls us to recognize the inherent worth of every person, to practice welcome, and to make room at the table for all God’s children. This is expressed in action, often involving mercy, faithfulness, and steadfast commitment.
It means making sure there is a place for everyone at Christ’s communion table, at the tables in our homes, among our friends and families, and here in our life together as a church. Loving kindness is the work of making sure every person is seen, every person knows they are loved by God, and every person has what they need to flourish — because that is what God desires for all of us.
This year marks the first time congregations across the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) are invited to receive the World Communion Offering. Through this new Offering, we join with other congregations in supporting the wider Church in the work for racial justice, gender justice, peacemaking, global witness, and ecumenical and interfaith relations.
In a world that often feels divided, this Offering helps us remember that we belong to one another, even to people we may never meet.
We will deepen our understanding of the sacrament of communion as it is celebrated across cultures and traditions. Through learning, fellowship, and worship, we will prepare ourselves for World Communion Sunday, when we will gather at Christ’s table and receive this Offering.
We join siblings in Christ across the globe in God’s mission of welcome, justice and hope. We step beyond the boundaries of our neighborhood and into the life of the worldwide Church, learning to see God’s image more clearly in one another. We invite you to take part fully in this season and in this Offering, as together we celebrate what it means to belong to a global, connected Church shaped by God’s endless love.
Let us pray:
Holy God, accompany us as we prepare to receive the bread of life and the cup of salvation on World Communion Sunday. Embolden us to understand the wideness of your mercy and the vastness of your realm on Earth. Give us the grace to understand another’s culture and show us how we might be more faithful as we proclaim your saving death through our actions. Amen.
Enough for Today - Contemporary Service 9 AM, Traditional Service 11 AM
One of the most honest questions in Scripture is this:
"Is the Lord among us or not?"
It's a question many faithful people have quietly asked.
This Sunday we discover that even after miracles, God's people still struggled to trust. And yet God responded—not with anger—but with grace, providing exactly what they needed for that day.
Perhaps that's the invitation for us as well.
Not to carry tomorrow's burdens today.
Simply to trust that God will provide enough grace for the journey before us.
I look forward to worshiping with you.
Grace and peace,
Kelly-Ann <><
When the Way Opens - Contemporary Service 9 AM, Traditional Service 11 AM
There are moments in every life when the future feels blocked.
A difficult decision.
A diagnosis.
A relationship.
A transition.
Standing at the edge of the sea, God's people could see no way forward. Yet God was already making a path they could not yet imagine.
This Sunday we'll remember that faith isn't pretending obstacles don't exist. Faith is trusting that God is already present, even when we cannot yet see the way.
Grace and peace,
Kelly-Ann <><
Kids' Night Out
Based on Ephesians 6:10-18, the “Armor of God” teaches kids how to face spiritual battles - like fear, lying, and temptation - using invisible protection.
We will learn about and make the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, the Shoes of Peace, the Shield of Faith, the Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit.
Children ages 3 through 5th grade are welcome. (Children must be potty-trained.) The evening includes dinner, a Bible story and lesson, activities, and games.
Please send canned food items to donate to our food pantry!
Contact us here with questions.
Rally Day
Join us September 13 for an introduction to fall programs, refreshments after service, and activities for kids!
Did you know the verb "rally" can be transitive or intransitive? And why is that important to Rally Day?
One of my favorite things about the Church is that none of us learned faith by ourselves.
Someone taught us to pray.
Someone told us the stories of Scripture.
Someone encouraged us when life became difficult.
Faith has always been passed from one generation to another.
This Sunday, as we celebrate Rally Day and begin another year of Christian Education, we'll reflect on the gift we've received and the privilege of sharing it with those who come after us.
Whether you're three or ninety-three, there is always room to grow.
I hope you'll join us.
Grace and peace,
Kelly-Ann <><

Trusting the Next Step
Most of us would love to have a map.
We want to know where the road leads before we take the first step.
But that's rarely how faith works.
This Sunday we'll stand with God's people as they prepare to leave Egypt. They aren't given every answer. They're simply invited to trust the God who has promised to be with them.
There is something freeing about remembering that God doesn't ask us to know everything. Sometimes faith simply means taking the next faithful step.
I'll see you Sunday.
Grace and peace,
Kelly-Ann <><

Service On Sunday
On Sunday, August 30, 2026, during the Children’s Sunday School, children attending will be making cards for Have Faith Haiti, a secure 7-acre orphanage in Port-au-Prince run by bestselling author Mitch Albom and his wife, Janine.
Why involve children in Missions?
The Bible tells us to do it.
Help kids identify the needs of others and see how they can make a difference.
Children are sensitive to God: they can begin to learn about God’s heart for missions at an early age.
Children easily understand the concept of compassion.
Responding to the needs of their world helps children develop into caring adults.
“Train up a child the way he should go; and when they are old they will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Holy Ground: How Do We Learn to Notice God’s Presence?
Moses wasn't searching for a mountaintop experience.
He was simply tending sheep.
Then, in the middle of an ordinary day, God met him.
I wonder how often we miss those moments because we're looking for something extraordinary.
This Sunday, Dr. Dan Wiard will explore what it means to notice God's presence in the ordinary places of life. Perhaps holy ground isn't somewhere far away. Perhaps it begins wherever God chooses to meet us.
May we have eyes to see and hearts ready to listen.
Grace and peace,
Kelly-Ann <><

Seeds of Hope
Have you ever looked back over your life and realized that God was working long before you recognized it?
That's where our Exodus journey begins.
Long before Moses appears on the scene... before the burning bush... before the miracles... God is quietly preparing hope through ordinary people making faithful choices.
Sometimes we think God only works in dramatic moments. More often, God is planting seeds we won't recognize until much later.
As we begin this new worship series, God Goes Before Us, I invite you to come with an open heart. Perhaps God is already at work in your life in ways you cannot yet see.
I look forward to worshiping with you.
Grace and peace,
Kelly-Ann <><

If you are healthy and able, please consider donating lifesaving blood. Appointments are strongly encouraged. Schedule by calling 1-800-RED CROSS or CLICK HERE.
God Goes Before Us
As summer gives way to fall, we invite you to join us for a new worship series through the opening chapters of Exodus called God Goes Before Us.
These familiar stories remind us that long before Moses answered God's call, before the sea opened, and before God's people knew where their next provision would come from, God was already at work.
Together we will discover a God who prepares, calls, leads, provides, and remains faithful through every season of life.
Along the way we'll ask:
What is God preparing before we even recognize it?
How do we learn to notice God's presence?
Can we trust God before we know the whole journey?
What kind of faith are we passing on?
What do we do when the future seems blocked?
How do we trust God's presence in seasons of uncertainty?
Whether you have walked with God for many years or are just beginning to explore faith, these stories speak to every season of life.
Communion at Regirer Park
Please join us Sunday, August 16th at 2:00 PM for a special time of worship with our dear friends at Regirer Park Health & Rehab Center (formerly known as The Laurels at University Park), located at 2420 Pemberton Road.

We always look forward to this shared time together and hope to see you there!
Summer Potluck
Summertime Potluck Luncheon on Sunday,
August 16, 2026!
Our luncheon was held in the Upper Fellowship Hall following the worship service.
The main course and beverages were provided. Those whose last names begin with A-G brought a dessert and H-Z brought a side dish or salad to share.
Thank you all for your contribution to our meal together!

Blessing of the Backpacks
The Blessing of the Backpacks is a back-to-school tradition in which our congregation prays over students, teachers, and their schoolbags/backpacks/laptops. It serves to remind children and teachers that God is always with them—symbolizing that every time they put on their bag, they are wrapped in God's love. Each child will receive a backpack cross keychain as a reminder that God is always with them.
We will also be commissioning our teachers, a special time to recognize amazing individuals who give their time sharing the Word with our youngest attendees.
Service of Remembering
Sometimes before we move forward, we need to pause and remember.
Throughout Scripture, God's people are encouraged to remember—not simply the past, but the faithfulness of God. We remember the moments when God sustained us, surprised us, comforted us, and carried us through seasons we never imagined we could navigate.
This Sunday will be a little different. Through Scripture, music, prayer, and reflection, we'll remember together. We'll give thanks for where God has brought us, celebrate the grace that has met us along the way, and quietly prepare our hearts for the journey ahead.
As we begin another ministry season, I hope you'll come ready not only to remember yesterday, but also to trust the God who is already preparing tomorrow.
Grace and peace,
Kelly-Ann
Wacky Wednesday
Wacky Wednesday was held August 5, 2026 at TCPC. We had a phenomenal turnout!
